NIA Autism and Low Incidence Team

The NIA Autism and Low Incidence Team supports students with autism spectrum disorder, cognitive disabilities, and other related challenges by empowering local teams to make informed decisions and implement programming that will meet the unique needs of each student.

Technical Assistance

  • Provide on-site consultation with local team, including families
  • Provide resources and answer questions based on current research in the field
  • Develop action plan and identify priorities with team for student programming
  • Build capacity in local team to support students with ASD, cognitive disabilities, or other related challenges
  • Preview and provide resources, visual supports, and information on programming with on-site team
  • Consult on assistive technology with a focus on communication and fine motor needs
  • Assist team to identify outside resources for school or family when needed
  • Provide staff development on request, such as make and takes, family night presentations, or training for staff

Who We Are

The NIA Autism and Low Incidence Support Team is comprised of SLPs and OTs with extensive training in autism and other disabilities. The team has a combined 35 years of experience in supporting students in a variety of settings.
