Therapy/Physical Therapy

Illinois Association Therapy Department
The Therapy
Department provides physical therapy and occupational therapy services.
Therapy services aim to enhance each student's educational potential,
supporting instruction through referral, evaluation, intervention,
and collaboration.
Referral and Evaluation: Students are assessed to determine their
physical, sensorimotor, and/or developmental needs.
Intervention and Collaboration: Therapists support education by
working with teams to:
- Create
goals to support educational success.
- Adapt
classroom environments and equipment.
- Design
activities to enhance independence with school routines.
- Provide
intervention that will improve function.
Special services
offered to support intervention include:
- Adaptive
Seating and Wheelchair Clinics, where specialists and therapists assist
families in obtaining specialized equipment.
- Orthopedic
Clinics, staffed with a pediatric orthopedic medical specialist.
- Paraprofessional
training in selected areas including gross and fine motor development,
sensory processing, and body mechanics and transfers.
