Paraprofessional Training Program

(Click here for a printer-friendly detailed summary of available workshops for 2007-2008)

For several years, the NIA has offered a Paraprofessional Training Program to member districts and cooperatives. Our goal is to provide institute training to paraprofessionals on subject matter that is relative to their role in the special education system. No Child Left Behind legislation has driven the need for paraprofessionals to have access to professional development opportunities.  Meaningful training opportunities for paraprofessionals are necessary so that they better understand the theoretical basis of special education, the characteristics of various disabilities, and the implications for a child to be successful in the classroom.

Most workshop topics are developed for a 3-hour presentation, with the exception of Paraprofessional Basic Training, which is a 6-8 hour presentation.  Audience size is best
suited at a maximum of 40 participants.   All workshop topics can be tailored to meet
your individual needs.
